As a specialty area, Pediatric Neuropsychology focuses on learning and behavioral development as it relates to the maturation of the child’s brain and the behavioral adjustments that are made by the child within his/her social and school related environment. The pediatric neuropsychologist holds a doctorate degree in psychology; specialized training in brain anatomy and brain function; advanced training in the administration and interpretation of neuropsychological instruments; and expertise in how learning and behavior are associated with the development and maturation of the brain.

The pediatric neuropsychologist typically works closely with families and schools to help provide appropriate educational programs and interventions for the child. They also provide treatment such as cognitive rehabilitation, behavioral management and psychotherapy.
